Here you can find images and thoughts on the different series of work I create and have created. Aside from the older series, all the work here is actively being produced, so if you see something you like, contact me or find me at an upcoming show.
Much of my work's color is created using a glass of my own particular composition that I have worked towards with years of experimentation. The glass and recipe I use to create it was derived from a very old and, currently, seldom used glass called chalcedony. The first reference and recipe I found for a glass of this nature is in L'Arte Vetraria by Antonio Neri published in 1612. The beauty and rarity of the glass at that time was such that vessels and decoration made of chalcedony were worth more than their weight in gold. Below are a few of faces of chalcedony that I have found.
Simplex -
This series originated in part as a reaction to the color complexity chalcedony lends to much of my other work.
I wanted something simple, clean and bold. These vases are what evolved from that premise. The name of the series comes from
the fact that while they are a simple concept, their execution proved to be complex.
Calrissian -
This series is a variation of the chalcedony glass I work with. It runs heavily in the caramel/yellow color ranges
with soft transitions into deep amber, purple and sometimes pink. A very atmospheric feeling.
Blue -
This series exhibits the most elusive and difficult to achieve face of the chalcedony
glass I work with. It is composed of a swirl
of electric blues and greens with both soft and sharp transitions to black. Not an easy color to achieve,
this series has consumed much of my attention and continues to do so.
Other -
Select pieces from different times that for one reason or another are not part of a series.
